    • Why can I not find a stocklist for a product shown on nps.co.uk? /

Since the very first pair of Solovair left our factory we have made hundreds of different varieties of our footwear, either using materials that were freely available at the time of production or as one on request for independent retailers. The NPS website showcases our current and most popular styles as well as a small selection of the products we have made historically (for your inspiration). Unfortunately the commissioning retailer may have sold all of their stock and/or the material used to make this product may no longer be available and therefore they are not currently available to buy through one of our recognised retail channels. If you are unable to find a stockist of a product you are interested in, why not sign up to our newsletter to receive updates about the latest products or limited editions being made and where these are being distributed to.

    • Are you able to manufacture bespoke orders for wholesalers or retail companies? /

Yes. With a highly skilled workforce and access to a wide variety of components, including virtually any leather or material suitable for shoe manufacturing, we can create bespoke orders for our customers. Please remember that we require a minimum of twelve pairs per product (style/colour), but mixed sizes per product are acceptable. If you own or represent a company and would like to stock our products then please contact us at sales@nps-manufacturing.co.uk for further information or a copy of our latest catalogue.

    • Can I select my own leather and sole combinations? /

We manufacture a wide range of boots and shoes, using knives and lasts that have been part of the company for decades. We also stock a broad selection of Solovair soles varying in thickness and colour, the choice of leathers and fabrics is only limited by your imagination. To discuss style options or to obtain a copy of our latest catalogue please contact us at sales@nps-manufacturing.co.uk.

    • Are Solovair 100% made in England? /

Yes, completely. From Michael and his team who cut the leather to Ron and his assistants who add the Solovair swing tag before packaging them for dispatch. They have always been made by NPS Shoes Ltd. in our factory located in Wollaston, Northamptonshire. NPS Shoes Ltd. was founded in 1881, as one of the world’s original footwear manufacturers. Please visit our history page to find out more about Solovair and NPS.

    • Do you have a minimum order quanity? /

Yes, we require a minimum order of twelve pairs per product (style/colour), although this can be across a range of sizes.

    • Replacement Laces /

Laces are a personal preference, but we generally recommend the following lace sizes when purchasing replacements:

      – 3 eyelets: 60 or 65cm

      – 4 or 5 eyelets: 90cm

      – 6 eyelets: 120cm

    • Construction Methods Explained /

      What is Veldtschoen?

Veldtschoen (also known as Stitch-down) construction is a type of Goodyear welting shoe production but instead of the upper leather turning underneath the insole like more common traditional Goodyear welted constructions, the Veldtschoen turns outwards and is stitched directly to the mid-sole. The advantages being: durability, repairable  and comfort.
