“Following the success of autumn winter’s debut collection, John Lewis is set to launch a new spring summer womenswear edit of its popular Made in UK shoes. Championing British manufacturing, the collection has been produced exclusively for John Lewis in collaboration with Northamptonshire-based British bootmakers, NPS Shoes.
The strong capsule collection takes influence from traditional footwear and incorporates Chelsea boots, brogues, two tone Oxfords and loafers. The collection also includes a monk shoe. The one-buckled ‘must-have’ will be available in pastel pink suede as well as navy suede with a patent toe cap.
Amanda Scott, Head of Buying, Accessories, at John Lewis, says, “It is great to be working with NPS shoes again on our second collection. This season’s collection has grown in size, with the addition of a classic monk shoe. Its androgynous aesthetic perfectly juxtaposes the chic pastel pink shade we have designed it in for spring. We’re sure it will become a staple this season.”
Northamptonshire-based British bootmakers, NPS Shoes was founded as a cooperative in 1881 in the heart of Northamptonshire and was bought by current owner Ivor Tilley in 2006. The leather shoes are Goodyear Welted, a process through which the shoe’s sole is stitched to a welt, and the brogue detailing is also fashioned by hand. NPS remains to this day one of the world’s original and finest footwear manufacturers, and the company’s 125 years of expertise are visible in the capsule collection created for John Lewis.
John Lewis Made in UK shows will be available in John Lewis Oxford Street and online, with prices starting from £170 for a £185.”
